IGNITE HER SCHOLARSHIP

About The scholarship

EMBERS Ignite has two successful student mothers on the board of directors with a mission to pay it forward.

The Ignite Her scholarship was designed with student mothers in mind. Student mothers face a unique set of barriers other students do not. Between juggling coursework with jobs, finding affordable childcare, facing lack of representation or stigmas, and paying for expenses other students do not, they must overcome so many hurdles before even approaching the starting line.

Our goal was to support these student mothers with funds to help cover groceries, bills, rent, childcare, transportation, books and supplies, or anything a student mother needs to be successful in her program.

2022 IGNITE HER Winners

Adrienne R.

Adrienne is a nursing student and dedicated single mother of an amazing 4-year-old son. Her desire to become a nurse was ignited as she served as her mother’s caretaker. She unfortunately lost her mother to leukemia in 2020 and was accepted into nursing school one year later. Adrienne’s goal is to one day work at The City of Hope, the same place her mother received treatment, and provide the best quality of care her patients.

Leticia G.

Leticia is a single mother of a beautiful 5-year-old daughter, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Communication. She was a teen mother who worked relentlessly to take back control of her passion and her life instead of choosing stagnancy. Leticia views education as a way to show her daughter that things that seem unattainable are indeed possible.
