  • Saraiyah Hatter

    President & Co-Director of Health

    Saraiyah received her Bachelor’s in Physiological Science from UCLA and a dual Master’s in Business and Science from Keck Graduate Institute. Her passions and skill set lie at the intersection of patient advocacy, corporate strategy, and philanthropy. Saraiyah founded EMBERS Ignite with the sole intention of providing resources to establish equity and inspire women to achieve their brightest dreams. In her free time, Saraiyah loves to exercise, try new recipes, and spend time with her 4-year-old daughter.

    “Being a mom is extraordinary. When my daughter was 6 months old, I promised her that if I were ever away from her, I’d spend that time doing something extraordinary - and what’s more extraordinary than empowering women to change the world?”

  • Bria Chappell, Esq.

    Treasurer & Co-Director of Entrepreneurship

    Bria earned her Bachelor’s in Political Science and African American Studies at UCLA, and later went on to earn her Juris Doctor. She is currently fulfilling her childhood dream of being an attorney, and she encourages other women to pursue their aspirations full throttle. When Bria is not working, you can usually find her shopping or trying new restaurants with family and friends.

  • Mariah Gladden, M.Ed., PPS

    Secretary & Co-Director of Education

    Mariah graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s in Sociology. After discovering her passion for working with youth, she obtained her Master’s in School Counseling with PPS credentials from Pointe Loma Nazarene University to help all children from kindergarten through 12th grade. She believes every person has a super power and it only takes one person or opportunity to change the trajectory of your life. Mariah works to serve as an advocate for all who are finding their voice.

    “Even when you don’t believe in yourself, there is someone who sees your full potential. If not you, then who? Despite where you started, you can decide to change the course of your life. It might change, and that’s okay. I’m determined to be the tiny voice in your head to guide you along. There are limitless opportunities to be YOU.”

  • Crystal Gaeta

    Board Member & Co-Director of Entrepreneurship

    Crystal graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s in International Development Studies and a minor in Mandarin. Currently, she is an MBA Candidate and Consortium Fellow at Berkeley Haas School of Business. As a former management consultant, Crystal provided pro-bono business strategy advice to mission-driven organizations like EMBERS Ignite. Crystal loves strength training, photography, and fashion design.

It’s about igniting hope, unlocking potential, and embracing the unstoppable spirit within every woman, ensuring that no barrier can hinder their journey to greatness.”

  • Cathy Whitaker-Weston

    Board Member & Co-Director of Education

    Cathy received her Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Pointe Loma Nazarene University and is currently pursuing her Masters in Educational Administration. She serves as an athletic trainer, high school teacher, and coach. Cathy’s main passion is engaging the community and helping young women reach their full potential. In her free time, she enjoys playing sports with her two children.

    “When I had my son in college, many thought I would never finish. However, with my amazing village, I have accomplished my dreams and more. I work with EMBERS Ignite in the hopes of giving others a village like mine to support them in their dreams.”

  • Sophia Montoya

    Marketing Manager & Co-Director of Health

    Sophia received her Bachelor’s in Sustainability Studies at UCR and a dual Master’s in Business and Science from Keck Graduate Institute. She is passionate about population health, with a particular focus on the Latino community, and healthcare marketing. For fun, Sophia loves to hike, travel, exercise, and try new restaurants around Los Angeles.

    “If I’m able to help at least one woman with their hardships, then all I have worked for is worth it.”
